1983 - Today

By: Kam Singh | Date Added:

Born in Santa Monica, California, on May 14, 1983, Amber Tamblyn has become a dynamic force in both women's movement and the entertainment industry. Throughout her career as an actress and activist, she has remained dedicated to using her platform to promote social change. With her early Television roles in "General Hospital" and "Joan of Arcadia" and her critically lauded roles in "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and "127 Hours," Amber made a name for herself as a gifted and adaptable actor swiftly. However, it was her passion for social justice that allowed her to break out from Hollywood's mold and become a well-known advocate for women's rights. In response to the pervasiveness of sexual harassment and gender inequality in the entertainment industry and beyond, Amber co-founded the Time's Up movement in 2018. Since then, Time's Up has grown into an international movement that fights institutionalized sexism, promotes workplace equity, and offers assistance to victims of abuse and harassment. Apart from her involvement with Time's Up, Amber is a skilled writer and poet who explores feminism, identity, and social change in her creative pieces. Her first book, "Any Man," delves into the effects of sexual assault and the tenacity of those who have survived it, solidifying her reputation as a brave fighter for women's rights. Amber promoted intersectional feminism, challenged patriarchal conventions, and amplified the voices of the oppressed by using her platforms. Amber Tamblyn's steadfast devotion to action and elevating underrepresented perspectives serves as a potent reminder of the transformative power of art and advocacy. She continues to encourage others through her work to speak up against injustice, question the status quo, and work toward a society that is more inclusive and equal.
