Born in Saudi Arabia in 1955, Lubna Olayan is a trailblazing character in the business and financial world. She is renowned for smashing glass ceilings and tearing down barriers within the male-dominated Middle Eastern corporate world. She is a strong advocate for women's economic empowerment and education, and as the former CEO and deputy chairman of Olayan Financing Company, she has come to represent women's leadership and empowerment in the region. Olayan achievements are noteworthy, she was selected by Time as being amongst the 100 most influential people in the world and has been on Fortune’s list of Most Powerful Women for many years running; she was also selected by Forbes as an influential business leader. She has received numerous awards and recognitions, including an honorary Doctor of Laws (LLD) from Trinity College, Dublin and the insignia of Member First Class of the Royal Order of the Polar Star by His Majesty the King of Sweden, Carl Gustav XVI. Olayan's remarkable journey from starting as a trainee in her family's business to becoming one of the most influential businesswomen in the world inspired many individuals.
