Alexandra Elizabeth Paul is an American actor, health coach, activist and former model, best known for playing Lt. Stephanie Holden in the TV series ‘Baywatch.’ She stepped into the entertainment industry with modeling and later pursued acting with the TV film ‘Paper Dolls.’ She earned her first major role in the supernatural-horror film ‘Christine.’ This was followed by starring roles in many other films, such as ‘American Flyers,’ ‘8 Million Ways to Die,’ ‘The Paperboy,’ and ‘Dragnet.’ Some of her notable TV projects were the series ‘Baywatch’ and the TV movies ‘Death Train’ and ‘Nightwatch.’ She also hosted the series ‘Wild Waters’ and ‘Winning Women’ and co-hosted the talk show ‘Earth Talk Today.’ Alexandra co-wrote and co-produced two documentaries: ‘Jampacked’ and ‘The Cost of Cool: Finding Happiness in a Materialistic World.’ She also produced eight PSAs for ‘Plug In America.’ She is also an outspoken activist for animal rights, peace, environmental issues, and gay rights. Over the years, she has campaigned for various causes and issues that have seen her clash with the law and face arrests. Alexandra Elizabeth Paul was born on July 29, 1963, in New York City, New York, US, to social worker Sarah (originally from England) and investment banker Mark Paul. Alexandra once mentioned that her father was a conservative Republican and her mother was a liberal Democrat. She grew up in Cornwall, Connecticut, along with her identical twin sister, Caroline, who later became a writer, and her younger brother, Jonathan, who is also an animal rights activist. Alexandra studied at the Cornwall Consolidated School and the Groton School in Massachusetts. Although she was accepted into Stanford University, Alexandra decided not to attend university and chose to concentrate on her acting career instead. Alexandra commenced her career with modeling in New York City. She eventually resolved to pursue acting and relocated to Los Angeles. She made her acting debut as Laurie Caswel’ in the 1982 TV film ‘Paper Dolls.’ This was followed by a starring role in the 1983 neo-noir crime slasher film ‘American Nightmare.’ Her first major role was that of Leigh Cabot in the 1983-released commercial hit supernatural-horror film ‘Christine.’ Following this, she starred in several other films. These include the sports drama ‘American Flyers’ (1985), with Kevin Costner; the crime thriller ‘8 Million Ways to Die’ (1986), with Jeff Bridges and Rosanna Arquette; and the buddy-cop comedy ‘Dragnet’ (1987), with Dan Aykroyd and Tom Hanks. She was also featured in films such as ‘Spy Hard’ (1996) and ‘In My Sleep’ (2010).
