Grace Coddington is a Welsh writer, former model and former creative director of American Vogue. Born and raised in Anglesey, Coddington stated that fashion fueled her imagination and helped her escape. At the age of 18, Coddington won a Vogue modeling contest which launched a successful career. However, at the age of 26, she was in a car crash that resulted in head injuries and a detached eyelid. Two years after the accident, Coddington began working as a junior editor at British Vogue. After 19 years, she left for a creative director role at American Vogue. After her exit in 2016, she has continued to write and collaborate with brands such as Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co. Coddington is known for creating some of the most extravagant and important fashion images of all time.
