Jennifer Lee was born on October 22nd, 1971. She is an American Screenwriter, Film Director, and Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios. She is best known as the Writer and Director of Frozen and its sequels Frozen 2, which earned her an Academy Award for the best-animated feature. Lee is the first female Director of a Walt Disney Animation Studios feature film. And the first female Director a feature film that earned more than $1 billion in gross box office revenue. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English in 1992, and went to New York City, where she worked as a Graphic Artist in publishing. Lee graduated from Columbia University School of the Arts Film Program with a MFA in film in 2005. She became involved with the film Frozen, initially as screenwriter and later as co-director in September 2014, it was announced that she would be a Co-Director a short film featuring the Frozen character called Frozen Fever. It was released in March 2015. Lee was one of several Disney Writers and Directors who received credit for “Creative leadership” within 2014-2016.
