Jenny Tseng was born Yan Suk Si on February 20 1953, she is a singer, actress and producer from Macau. She is mostly known in Cantonese-speaking regions, and she has been based in Hong Kong for much of her career. Tseng was one of the most popular female singers in Hong Kong during "the Golden Age of Music". Her career has spanned four decades, and she is one of the most successful "canto-pop singers", having released over 130 albums and sold over 10 million records worldwide. Tseng's maternal ancestral home is Enping in Guangdong, China and her mother was born in Shanghai. Her father was of Austrian descent. The family lived in Taiwan. After her parents divorced, her mother remarried and relocated to Hong Kong. Tseng graduated from World News College becoming the fourth person to do so in Taiwan. She eventually went to university at the Chinese Culture Institute; now the Chinese Culture University). In an interview, Tseng stated that she intended to become a stewardess because she loved to travel. During Tseng's time at university, producers from a movie asked if she wanted to join the cast. She was asked to sing two English songs which eventually became hits. In 1978 Tseng released her debut Hong Kong album which broke records sales by selling 25,000 copies within the first two months, and was ranked top selling album for 12 weeks. According to the IFPI the total albums sales remains one of the highest. Her debut single was voted a "Top Ten Hong Kong Golden Song", one of the first songs to ever be awarded that status. In 1984, Tseng joined CBS / Sony and launched a new album. She became the first ever female artist to sell out Hong Kong Coliseum where Joseph Koo composed. A live recording was released and sold 200,000 copies. During the Jade Solid Gold Awards, Tseng won three times including two top-10 songs. She would not win again until 2011 with her honor of the golden needle award. After the image change of Anita Mui and the rise of competition Tseng's appearances and promotions became notably fewer for the majority of the 90s. However, Tseng became one of the highest paid Hong Kong female recording artists in 1991. After a 6 year break from doing concerts, Tseng announced her final concert tour which would last from 6 to 9 May at the Hong Kong Coliseum. The tour will through Taipei, Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Guangzhou, Singapore and Genting tour. The tour continued all through the year and sold out once again 4 times.
