Sridevi was born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan on August 13, 1963 in the village of Meenampatti, Tamil Nadu. She passed away on February 24, 2018 in United Arab Emirates as she planned to attend her nephew’s wedding. Her mother, Rajeshwari, was a Telugu actress and her father, Ayyapan, was a lawyer. Sridevi was married to the movie producer, Boney Kapoor, and they had two children together. She has one sister and two stepbrothers. Sridevi started out as a child actor and rose to becoming a famous Indian actress and producer who can play multiple roles in multiple languages. She can be consider the first female superstar in Indian films. She was awarded with the civilian honor Padma Shri by the Government of India. Sridevi was well known for portraying the roles of females facing hurdles and for appearing in numerous genres. The Indian entertainment industry ranked her as the highest paid actress during the 1980s and 1990s. She was widely known as an influential actress in Indian cinema. Sridevi began acting when she was four years old. Her debut was in the Tamil film, “Kandan Karunai” in 1967. Her first Telugu film was “Maa Nanna Nirdoshi”. As a child actor maturing into an adult, she has won a few awards, done many films, and already gained fame. By the 1980s she was an adult who had her breakthrough in Hindi films. She did “Solva Sawan” for her Hindi debut and had a successful career in Hindi films thereafter. Heading towards 1990s, her status rose to superstar as her fans praised Sridevi and hoped she continued to be the best actress ever. Her role in the film, “ChaalBaaz” had her play a double role as twin sisters. This film cemented her as an actress who can play multiple roles. She continued to do films until 1997 where she took a hiatus. She returned briefly in 2004 and explored new opportunities in television. In 2012 she decided to make a full comeback in acting and explore another opportunity in fashion. Her legacy portrayed her as one of the greatest and influential actress in Indian films. With sixteen awards won, fifteen nominations, two honors, and many praises from critics on how great her talents are as a child actor, before and after hiatus, and being one of the highest grossing actress ever. Sridevi is an inspiration as she was considered to be one of the greatest and influential actresses in Indian cinema. Her talents were so versatile as she has dancing skills and can adapt to a variety of genres. Many Bollywood actresses were inspired and influenced by her. Sadly she passed at a young age but everybody will remember her legacy and look up to her as a role model.
