Ann Tsukamoto is an inventor, scientist, and stem cell researcher. Ann went to the University of California, San Diego for her undergraduate degree, and later the University of California, Los Angeles for her Ph.D. After receiving her Ph.D, she conducted research alongside Nobel Laureate Harold Varmus where they created a transgenic model for breast cancer. Dr. Tsukamoto later worked at biotechnology and stem cell companies. During her career, she worked to isolate to hemotopoietic stem cell, as well as oversee the isolation of the human liver and neural stem cells to different diseases. She was one of the first world class researchers focused on the development and discovery of human stem cells. Dr. Tsukamoto led the scientific team that discovered the human central nervous system stem cell, and was able to identify and isolate blood forming stem cells. During her career working with stem cells, she conducted many leadership roles and holds 12 patents relating to her research.
