“We are here together making a chain of love to protect our families. Let us fight with love, faith and courage so that our families will not be destroyed.” The eight year old Sophie Cruz proves that you are never too young to advocate for what you believe in. She is well known for having Pope Francis kiss her in the cheek and taking her envelope which had a letter about immigration with a picture she drew that said: “My friends and I love each other no matter our skin color.” As a child of undocumented immigrants she was frightened by the thought of her parents being deported so, she was hoping the Pope could talk to the president and Congress so that they can fix the U.S. immigration law. She recently spoke at the Women's March on Washington in January 2017, advocating for immigrant rights and was the recipient of the Define American Award for Activist of the Year in 2017. At the Women's March on Washington she said: “I also want to tell the children not to be afraid, because we are not alone. There are still many people that have their hearts filled with love… let’s keep together and fight for the rights. God is with us.”
