Born in Orlando, Florida, Alberta Kline attended the Hoppers Academy, a training school for Christian workers of the Mission Society. She then attended Columbia and New York University religious education departments. Kline dedicated her life to the Mission Society and helped found its Harlem branch. She served the New York City Mission Society’s Harlem branch for over 40 years, beginning as its director in 1946. Kline grew her camp, Camp Minisink, from only one camper to 400 campers for two‐week summer periods and provided facilities for aged persons as well. She eventually had 24 full‐time trained workers at the town house, the community center and at 19 churches and affiliated centers. Kline died in 1964 due to illness. She is survived by her husband and three brothers.
