During past years as City Council Member, Mrs. Wooten has served on several committees; Chairperson of Committee on Education, Parks, Recreational and Cultural Affairs, and also served as the chairperson of the Select Committee on Special Education. She is a member and Secretary of the Black and Hispanic Caucus of the City of New York. She is the Female Leader of the 40th Assembly District and Vice Chairman of the Kings County Democratic Organization. In addition Ms. Wooten was appointed by Governor Mario Cuomo to serve on New York's Open Government Committee and Appointed Liaison to the Mayor on Civil Service and Pension Committee. Mrs. Wooten is also a member of the Democratic National Committee. She always been involved in volunteer work and was member of Local School Board 19.
