“In our society education is not given much importance but it is my duty to explain to the older generation how schooling is very much needed.” Payla Jangid is a surviver like no other. She had escaped child slavery in India and became a children's rights advocate. Payla lives in a poor village in Rajasthan, India where poverty affects everyone in the community. However, Payla wants to cause a change in her country and is the leader of the Child Parliament in her village. She wants girls to be treated properly and equal to men. Her goal to is to inform the people of India how important it is for girls to receive a proper education. "We formed this council comprising of children to speak about the problems faced by our peers and why we need school. I think that's why I was chosen to meet the Obamas because I'm trying to improve my community." Payal has also been working with Bachpan Bachao Andolan which translates to Save the Childhood since 2012. She has helped campaign for the rights of children and spends most of her free time walking around rural villages to stop child marriages. Due to her hard work and activism she was chosen as the jury member of the World Children's Prize that awarded Malala Yousafzai in 2014.
