Elizabeth Singleton Moss is an American actress and producer, born in 1982. Throughout her career, she has portrayed a variety of characters, including the daughter of an American president, a rookie detective, and a copywriter in an advertising agency. In these and other roles, Moss effectively conveys the struggles of being a woman in stories that are steeped in patriarchal privilege. Starting in 2017, Moss both produced and starred in the Hulu sci-fi series The Handmaid's Tale, based on Margaret Atwood's novel of the same name. It is here that her talent shines brightest. Her performance displays heartbreaking vulnerability while also conveying the hidden strength of her character’s will to survive within an extreme, androcentric, and exploitative system.
