Leslie Gottlieb is a media relations guru and a strategic integrated marketing and communications leader with extensive experience at major national and global nonprofits. She is also a teacher, mentor and activist who volunteers her time for various nonprofits. Leslie has worked as the Director of Communications in various companies, including the Ford Foundation, the American Red Cross in Greater New York, Jewish Child Care Association, Lighthouse International and Public Agenda. In these roles, she achieved 505,000,000 media impressions; managed a 36-person team of staff and volunteers; created a 66% increase in online giving; recruited strategic media partnerships such as the NY Post, WABC-TV and WNYW-TV, resulting in more than $300,000 in in-kind services; and created a 650% increase in online advocacy. She drove thousands of placements in outlets ranging from the New York Times and cnn.com to nbc’s Today Show. An expert in crisis communications, she created, implemented and directed communications following 9/11, the 2005 Tsunami, blizzards, hurricanes and a blackout for the largest Red Cross chapter in the U.S. Leslie’s work has been published in Commpro.biz blog, PRSA blog, PRSA Tactics, O’Dwyers blog and Non Profit Times. Since 2017, Leslie has been the Principal at LG Strategic Communications. In this role, she created, led, and implemented integrated media, communications, digital, marketing, and fundraising for numerous clients ranging from the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund to the Graduate Theological Union and the Piano School of New York. She has also taught at Marymount Manhattan College and New York University. Leslie has a Master of Arts in American Government from American University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Syracuse University. Leslie has won several awards for her work, including the Public Relations Society of America New York Chapter Dorf Award for Mentoring, 2011; American Red Cross in Greater NY Partnership Award for Outstanding Online Project, 2005; and was listed in Presidential Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in Public Relations. A social justice activist, Leslie is in the Piano School of NYC Board of Advisors and the Board of Directors at the Public Relations Society of America New York Chapter. She volunteers at Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter and the Stephen Wise Free Synagogue. She also mentors people in various fields.
