Michelle Zatlyn, born in July 1979 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada, is a prominent businesswoman and co-founder of the cybersecurity firm Cloudflare. She grew up in Prince Albert and attended Carlton Comprehensive High School, where she was the captain of the basketball team. Zatlyn graduated from McGill University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and later earned an MBA from Harvard Business School. Her career began with a summer internship at Google and a role as a product manager at Toshiba. She later joined the founding team of the startup I Love Rewards, now known as Achievers, which focuses on global employee rewards programs. In 2009, Zatlyn co-founded Cloudflare with her Harvard Business School classmates Matthew Prince and Lee Holloway. As president and COO, she has been instrumental in the company's growth, overseeing its expansion to 165 data centers, 12 million domains, and more than 800 employees. In addition to her role at Cloudflare, Zatlyn was appointed to the board of directors for the Australian software company Atlassian in September 2021 and is a member of the Aspen Institute's cybersecurity team. Zatlyn has received numerous accolades, including being named to Fortune's "40 Under 40" list in 2017 and Forbes's "50 Self-Made Women" list in 2021. In 2019, she was honored as C100's "Icon of Canadian Entrepreneurship" and is a member of the World Economic Forum's Young Global Leaders. As of 2024, Forbes estimated her net worth at $1.2 billion, recognizing her among the world's richest self-made women. Zatlyn currently resides in San Francisco with her husband and two children.
