Chandra Wilson is an actress and director, best known for playing Dr. Miranda Bailey on “Grey’s Anatomy.” She was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She fell in love with acting when she was five years old, when her mom signed her up for acting after-school programs. Chandra went to the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston and then earned her drama degree from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She started out performing in stage shows on and off Broadway, where she made a name for herself. In 2005, Chandra joined “Grey’s Anatomy” as Dr. Miranda Bailey. Her character quickly became a fan favorite, and her performance earned her several award nominations, including four Primetime Emmy nods for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Chandra isn’t just an actress—she’s also a talented director. She’s directed multiple episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy” and its spin-off, “Station 19.” Her work behind the camera has been praised for its creativity and storytelling. Chandra is also passionate about mental health awareness and lupus research, driven by her own personal experiences. She’s involved with several charities and often speaks out about the importance of health and wellness. Chandra Wilson continues to be a respected and loved figure in the entertainment industry, known for her powerful performances, directing skills, and advocacy work.
