Lauren Ash

1988 - Today

Date Added:

Lauren Ashe, a mother, and an advocate for social change, would never think of leading a yoga class, much less becoming an entrepreneur and changing the fitness world. But she did! Often when she showed up at a studio or a yoga class, she realized she was one of the few women of color. Realizing that, she wanted to step up against the lack of diversity in the fitness world. Soon, Lauren not only prospers as not only a mother and a yoga teacher. She became the creator of Black Girl in Om; a holistic lifestyle brand focused on wellness for women of color—she’s a leading voice in the health industry. Lauren Ash’s goal is to expand the consciousness of black women and women of color. Since founding Black Girl in Om in 2014, her vision has led to creating transformational experiences, including content that radically centers and authentically speaks to a historically consistent marginalized global community. Lauren creates spaces that didn’t exist before. Women of color are drawn to come together to share self-care, beauty, health intel, and most importantly, inspire each other. Lauren has been recognized as a trailblazer in the contemporary wellness movement. She has been affirmed for “fostering a community of healing” by The New York Times. She has been named “a master practitioner of #blackgirlmagic” and “a leading voice in the healthy-living world” by Well+Good. Shape has declared her “one of the most important voices in the wellness industry.” Moving forward, she will only continue to change the fitness world to motivate more people to aim toward better health and mentality, no matter the difference.
