Tali Farhadian Weinstein

1973 - Today

Date Added:

Tali fled her hometown of Tehran at the young age of four. On Christmas Eve, in 1979 she found herself in America after escaping the anti-semitism and violence in Iran. After her family's hard work and dedication, they soon became American citizens. Because of her immigration story and her appreciation for all her parents left behind, Tali became motivated to fight for these issues later in life. After receiving an education at Yale and Oxford, she transitioned into her first career as a law clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals. She continued to work in law and found herself working under Barack Obama in the U.S. Department of Justice and additionally as a federal prosecutor. Under the leadership of Eric Gonzalez, Tali switched gears to helping the community. She created America's first Post-Conviction Justice Bureau which focused on fixing conviction mistakes of the past. Now, Tali is running for Manhattan District Attorney in the 2021 June primary. The main issues she is advocating for are domestic violence, immigration, gun violence, law enforcement accountability, and several more. She hopes to initiate new bureaus for gender-based violence as well as appointing a violence coordinator in efforts to tighten gun laws. Tali is overall an activist fighting for a safe and just city.
