Senator Daphne Jordan serves and represents the New York State Senate’s 43rd District, which includes parts of Rensselaer, Saratoga and Washington counties, and all of Columbia County. Senator Jordan is the Ranking Republican Member on the Senate Racing, Gaming and Wagering Committee, and the Senate State-Native American Relations Committee. Senator Jordan also serves on the Senate Agriculture, Banks, Civil Service and Pensions, and Ethics and Internal Governance Committees, and is a member of the Legislative Women’s Caucus. Senator Jordan honors our values, keeps her promises and works to deliver real tax relief for hard-working families, support economic development to create more good-paying jobs and grow our economy, cut Albany’s wasteful government spending and job-killing red tape, oppose unfunded state mandates that drive up property taxes, support law enforcement/first responders and honor military veterans. Senator Jordan fights every day for a better New York State, one with more affordability, opportunity, and security for everyone. Senator Jordan has been an outspoken voice for protecting innocent life, safeguarding taxpayer dollars, preserving the Second Amendment, and upholding the rule of law. Jordan started and ran two successful small businesses from scratch, employed 14 workers and understands the challenges private-sector job creators face. Senator Jordan champions common-sense policies to help small businesses that employ over half of all New Yorkers. Prior to her election to the State Senate, Jordan also served as a member of the Halfmoon Town Board. As Councilwoman, Jordan preserved and protected resident’s special quality of life, and ensured that the Town remained a great place for families. Jordan helped grow the Town’s General Fund balance from $70,000 to almost $4 million, attracted new businesses, expanded recreational trails and open spaces, and was part of the effort to create a Veteran’s Memorial. In recognition of her many successes and dedicated service, Councilwoman Jordan was overwhelmingly elected to the Halfmoon Town Board in 2014 and re-elected in 2015 with no opposition. Jordan also volunteered her time, talents, experience and expertise serving as a Trustee, member of the Executive Committee, and as Treasurer for the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library. In these capacities, Jordan managed a $3 million operating budget and a $15 million construction budget for the new library completed on budget. In addition, she developed the first template for the library’s five-year budget plan and served as liaison to facilitate and procure a $408,000 grant for a Green and LEED Certified Library. Senator Jordan is a graduate of Penn State Dickinson School of Law where she earned her Juris Doctorate Degree, and Lehigh University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree, graduating with a series of academic honors and recognition.
